Chronic Pain Resources
What is Chronic Pain? Any pain that is lasting longer than 3 months, but Chronic pain can have acute flare ups. Treatment for chronic pain varied depending on the type ad severity of pain symptoms.
Why do we have pain: initially it is used to protect us. It is an automatic response that our pain receptors in our nervous system uses to keep us from injury, further injury or danger. What happens in our body is we experience sensory input that is processed through the nervous system to the brain. Once processed, our brain sends a response to our body to pull away form the stimuli. This signal also elicits responses that bring edema or swelling to an injuried body part to protect and start the healing process. Sometimes this pain loop continues without being shut off and pain persists and can even amplify.
